John Sievenpiper, MD, PhD, is a Clinician Scientist, who holds appointments as an Associate Professor in the Department of Nutritional Sciences and Lifestyle Medicine Lead in the MD Program at the University of Toronto. He also holds appointments as a Staff Physician in the Division of Endocrinology & Metabolism and a Scientist in the La Ka Shing Knowledge Institute at St. Michael’s Hospital (Canada). Dr Sievenpiper completed his MSc, PhD, and postdoctoral fellowship training in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto. He completed his MD at St. Matthew’s University followed by Residency training in Medical Biochemistry at McMaster University leading to his certification as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC).
His research is focused on using randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses to address questions of clinical and public health importance in relation to diet and chronic disease prevention. He currently holds a Diabetes Canada Clinician Scientist Award and Banting & Best Diabetes Centre Sun Life Financial New Investigator Award. He has authored more than 150 scientific papers and 13 book chapters. Dr Sievenpiper is directly involved in knowledge translation with appointments to the nutrition guidelines committees of Diabetes Canada, European Association for the study of Diabetes (EASD), Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS), and the Canadian Obesity Network.

Susan Weiner is an award-winning nutrition, health and diabetes expert and the owner of Susan Weiner Nutrition, PLLC. Susan served as the 2015 ADCES Diabetes Educator of the Year and is an ADCES fellow. Among her many distinguished awards, she is the recipient of the 2019 Metropolitan New York Association of Diabetes Educators Advocate of the Year Award and the 2018 Media Excellence Award from the New York State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Susan is the “Diabetes in Real Life” columnist for Endocrine Today and is the on-air host for video interviews and content for Healio.com. She is the co-author of The Complete Diabetes Organizer: Your Guide to a Less Stressful and More Manageable Diabetes Life and Diabetes: 365 Tips for Living Well. Susan has extensive TV, radio, podcast, and video experience and is well versed in media communications.

Amie serves as the Director of Health Policy, Education and Alliances and as the Director of the Abbott Nutrition Health Institute. In this capacity she directs the creation of health and nutrition resources that assist healthcare professionals, and the populations they serve, on a global level. As part of this role, Amie establishes partnerships with domestic and international organizations working to address the challenge of preventing, identifying, and treating malnutrition.
Prior to joining Abbott, Amie served as the Senior Nutrition Advisor in the Office of HIV/AIDS in the Bureau of Global Health at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). In this position, Amie provided technical assistance to 30 countries in eastern and southern Africa, southeast Asia and the Caribbean implementing global HIV/nutrition/food security programs. She also served as the HIV/nutrition strategic information liaison to the Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator.
Amie received a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Brigham Young University and a Master of Public Health degree from The George Washington University.
