Course Description

In this UK-hosted course, you’ll recognise the presentation and management of non-IgE-mediated cow’s milk allergy in relation to FPIES; demonstrate how symptom resolution is possible using an appropriate amino acid-based formula; and assess the impact of FPIES on nutritional status and growth in infancy with reference to current national and international guidelines. Originally presented as a live webinar on 18 May 2021.

Carina Venter is a Professor of Pediatrics, Section of Allergy/Immunology at the Children's Hospital Colorado and the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine, where she is conducting research in allergy prevention and working with children with food allergies. Dr. Venter is a member of the World Allergy Organization (WAO) Diagnosis and Rationale for Action against Cow's Milk Allergy (DRACMA) Guidelines. She is currently the chair of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) work group on Immunomodulation and nutrition.

Rebecca Stevenson has served as the Medical Director of Abbott Nutrition UK since 2016. She has an extensive background in clinical nutrition working as a Paediatric Dietitian specializing in liver, gastroenterology, neonatology, allergy, and general paediatrics at Kings College Hospital trust, Royal London Hospital, UCLH. Additionally, she has worked as a Paediatrric and Sports Nutrition Dietitian in her own consultant business for several years prior to joining Abbott. She is a member of the British Dietetic Association and served on the research committee for 3 years. Volunteer experience includes serving as a volunteer mentor for Chiva Africa as a member of the interdisciplinary team in Zwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa for HIV anti-retroviral roll-out education.
