Gaurav Sharma, MD, is a board-certified robotic bariatric surgeon at the Virtua Hospital in New Jersey. He pursued his general surgery residency at Saint Barnabas/Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, New Jersey. During residency, he developed an interest in bariatric surgery and pursued his bariatric surgery fellowship from the University Medical Center of Princeton. He is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and the American College of Surgeons (ACS). Dr Sharma performs all types of bariatric surgeries, including revisional surgeries. His passion is to fight the widespread epidemic of obesity. Dr Sharma earned a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) in 2019. This helped him learn the pathology of obesity in-depth, and he can now provide comprehensive care to his patients. He works with a team of Registered Dietitians, psychologists, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners. He lives in New Jersey with his wife and three boys.
