Course Description

In this course, Alexis Fissinger, MS, RD, CSP, will discuss the roles that food and nutrition play in the management of pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD); describe general dietary principles and specific dietary therapies; review the relationship between IBD, food-related quality of life, and disordered eating; and summarize nutrients of concern and current research on supplements and alternative medicine. Originally presented as a live webinar on 09 November 2023.

Alexis is a pediatric dietitian with over 6 years of experience specializing in gastrointestinal conditions, initially at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City and now at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) in California. These days, much of her professional time is spent working with families of children and teens with inflammatory bowel disease, eosinophilic esophagitis, and feeding difficulties. She is also passionate about education and is involved in creating education for patients, interns, and dietitians.
