Dr Luise Marino is a UK-based clinical academic paediatric dietitian working clinically in Neonatal / Paediatric Intensive Care and Cardiology. Prior to this, she spent 15 years working in South Africa including Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital, Cape Town.
Following her return to the UK, she completed a PhD fellowship at Imperial College London, considering the role of HSP70 and the relationship to glutamine in the critically ill child. Her research into improving the growth and nutrition of infants with congenital heart disease has been recognized as an exemplar of good practice and honoured with the British Dietetic Association Dame Barbara Clayton Award.
Dr Marino continues to complete research, with a particular interest in how the development of integrated pathways for nutritional rehabilitation could promote healthy growth and reduce parental stress. She has published numerous peer-reviewed articles, and book chapters along with a Paediatric Dietetic Pocket Guide with Dr Rosan Meyer.
