A conversation with John Stutts, Abbott Medical Director, Pediatric Nutrition:

Q: Tell us about yourself.

I am a Pediatric Gastroenterologist and practiced for 23 years before becoming the Pediatric Medical Director at Abbott in 2023. Throughout my career, nutrition and nutrition education have been a passion. 

Q: You've spent a good deal of your time at Abbott focusing on physician nutrition education and the importance of nutrition in GI conditions in pediatrics. When you think about the three things you most want healthcare professionals to know about these topics, what comes to mind? 

Here are the three things that stand out most for me:

• Now more than ever, nutrition has become a key focus in providing quality clinical care.
• Nutrition education is foundational in developing recommendations for patients.
• In Pediatrics, nutritional interventions are often part of the clinical solution and families are asking for dietary options as part of a therapeutic plan.
