More than 425 million people have been diagnosed with diabetes. We have seen over the years that treatments, guidelines and technology have evolved. However, suboptimal glycemic control can still be an issue.
In this video, you’ll learn how nutrients, such as slowly digested carbohydrates and short chain fatty acids (SCFAs), stimulate L-cells to release the hormone GLP-1. Within the pancreas, GLP-1 binds receptors on alpha-cells to suppress glucagon secretion, and on beta-cells triggering insulin release, which helps reduce blood glucose.
