Professor Konstantinos Gerasimidis is a full professor of clinical nutrition at the university of Glasgow School of Medicine. He received his PhD degree in nutritional aspects and gut microbiota in pediatric inflammatory bowel disease at the university of Glasgow. Professor Konstantinos is chair of the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) special interest group in clinical malnutrition and lead of the ESPGHAN quality of care initiative in nutrition. His clinical research investigates the link between malnutrition and clinical outcomes in adults and children with acute and chronic disease, with particular interest in the screening and assessment of disease-associated malnutrition and its impact on patients’ outcomes. He also leads a laboratory team that explores the role of gut microbiota and its interaction with diet in the onset, propagation, and management of acute and chronic conditions, including the effect of habitual diet, elimination diets, and artificial nutritional support on the gut microbiota of children and adults with inflammatory bowel disease.
