This video summarizes the Global Malnutrition Composite Score (GMCS), an electronic clinical quality measure (eCQM) reported through the CMS Hospital Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) under the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Program (IQR). GMCS is the first nutrition-focused eCQM available in any CMS quality reporting program. The GMCS applies to all adults aged 65 and older on hospital admission, with an inpatient length of stay of at least 24 hours. Reporting on the GMCS helps health care professionals identify and intervene for malnutrition and meet hospital priorities including improving health equity and reducing health disparities.
